The person elected to represent us, by the largest number of us, visited the surviving family of Kabir.
He called out the culprits by their names. These 5 boys, all below 20 had made and widely shared the video showing their act and their celebration.
Our leader ensured that all government agencies were activated to act as per set rules and procedures within 1 hour of this happening. These men were arrested, all evidence and witness statements collected and the court visited that evening for everything to happen as per the constitution.
Early next morning, he came on national TV, radio, YouTube, FB live, X, WhatsApp channel and started with an apology on behalf of all of us to the family. He called on all his supporters to remember that he was the representative of all of us and not some of us. He appealed to all who voted against him to give him and his ministers a chance to prove themselves. His humility, authenticity, ownership for the incident and justice was sensed in his entire being by everyone watching.
He announced a series of measures to bring to reality the oneness and universal consciousness that the scriptures he had read, mention.
He announced a full day of open house at his residence, every Monday for the next 50 weeks. To start, invites were sent to representatives from all social, political, religious, gender, writers, entertainers, teenager, professional groups.
He announced the formation of a truth and reconciliation collective. No issue was off the board, nothing was taboo. All the gatherings were to be broadcast live. Here nothing would be held back. He trusted that people when they talk to each other openly, find durable and best solutions.
He mentioned that he will do everything to facilitate this to happen across the country, at all levels going upto RWA, mohallas, schools, colleges, offices, WhatsApp, Slack groups. He invited suggestions for the mechanism to conduct this most impactfully.
Our leader did this in the first week of his first term 10 years back. It took time. It wasn’t easy. A lot of dirt came out, from all sides. Threadbare veils hiding our fears were lifted. Carpets were dusted.
An extract from his fortnightly press interaction, held every alternate Friday, shows where we have reached.
Has everything been reconciled/cleared?
No
Isn’t that important?
No.
What has been achieved?
We talk now. We don’t let stories get built up over what happened.
Will we overcome all divisiveness?
No and that is not the desired outcome.
What is the objective then?
It is to talk and understand and engage.
It is to open doors which will never be shut again.
Ten years have passed.
It is still not late.
A nazm a dear friend shares regularly, written by his guru says
mushkil ko samajhne ka wasila nikal aata
tum baat to karte koi rasta nikal aata
Cheers to this! To all possibilities we can imagine.
Dreamt it with you. Amazing! Thank you. ♥️
